We are surfers just like you.
We were formerly known as Tribal Surf, a community of California surfers founded in 2008. Just a handful of friends that organized their surf outings on a website forum. We really didn’t expect our group to grow as quickly as it did. On a dare, we asked Sean Collins, the late founder of Surfline, if we could interview him. He said yes. Not long after, we were featuring other surfing icons including then CEO of Surfrider, Jim Moriarty, and Robert August of the Endless Summer fame. We even sold a few shirts with designs we thought were cool. It was all very cool.
In Hawai’ian, ulu pono means, “to thrive on a noble path.”
In 2018, we decided to reinvent ourselves under the name Ulupono Surf Company. We set off with the goal of sharing the stoke we have from surfing through a brand that offers an authentic surfing experience. A thoughtful brand that makes small batches to better focus efforts on authenticity and quality. A genuine brand that offers goods that are actually designed by surfers for surfers. A surf brand that thrives on a noble path.
We are Ulupono. And we are surfers just like you.
